Designers Rachel Easting and Anjali Stewart cite contemporary art as the basis for their collections. Their label is ever-migrating and can be found in stores across New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
“Twenty-seven names’ winter 2012 collection—take cover—celebrates a history of counterculture. The colour palette is lifted from The Balcony by Edouard Manet, the 19th century artist whose disdain for the conventional transformed the art world. The washed-out pastels of impressionism are used to colour iconic symbols of the protest era. These colours and images are used in hand-printed silk, vintage detailing, burnt-out velvet, and lace.”
