The 5-year-old Shiba Inu named Bodhi, more famously known as Menswear Dog, has come a long way since its first campaigns. The adorable pup is not only more stylish than ever before, but he’s also pulling in some serious dough for his humans—$15,000 a month, to be precise.
Bodhi’s owners, Yena Kim (a fashion designer) and her boyfriend David Fung (a graphic designer), have taken advantage of Menswear Dog’s viral fame to launch a lucrative business. “When we first dressed him up for fun [in spring 2013], he started posing for us,” says Fung. “We originally posted his photo to Facebook as a gag.” That funny gag quickly grew into something much bigger, as hundreds of thousands of people started to follow Menswear Dog on social media.
As for the star himself, Bodhi becomes a pro in front of the camera. As soon as he sees the outfit being pulled out from his regular duffle bag, the Shiba Inu becomes calm and poised, eagerly letting his dad fluff his shoulders and dress him up while Kim takes pictures. Outside of modeling time, Bodhi busies himself with normal dog stuff: bacon, playing with kids, sniffing other dogs, napping on the foot of the bed. “He’s just a regular dog. Hangs out. Sleeps a lot,” says Kim. “He’ll do whatever he wants.”
