The illustration by Russ Mills we’re showcasing today displays the artist’s focus for absorbing all sorts of random visual influences. Random, of course, is an understatement: the illustration in pen, pencil and computer, produced by the British artist, is complex to say the least. Most of it is multilayered portraiture, either in monochrome, or against the backdrop of a single primary color, but this does not, by any means, make it simplistic. According to the artist’s own bio, “his current work is a clash of styles from classical to pop surrealism, focusing predominantly on the human form, though also abstracting elements from nature and the animal kingdom.”
